What is Google FRP?

FRP stands for Factory reset protection. With the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google released a new security feature to protect your device and personal data.

When you set up FRP on your smartphone, It will protect it from unauthorized access if in case it gets lost, stolen or got a factory reset without your permission. Let’s say, Your device with FRP enabled is stolen, lost, or even wiped data factory reset, then someone with your Google Account credentials or screen lock information can access your device.

Many leading Android Smartphones and tablets manufacturers have started implementing this feature including Samsung, Google Pixel (Nexus devices), LG, Sony and HTC latest flagship devices.

Android is now more focused towards ensuring user privacy and security. For this reason, they released a new feature app permission manager with Android Marshmallow. With earlier versions of Android, a particular app would access permissions without notifying you but not anymore. You can now individually grant permissions to an app like Camera, to access photos or record audio, etc.

Personally, I love Android FRP feature for a number reasons and many Android users too. But unfortunately, I have seen many people having issues due to FRP lock on their device. Now they can’t get access back to their device.

It could be due to these reasons:

You’ve forgotten Google account email or password.
You bought a used phone from eBay, Swappa or local market.
Now you’re frustrated and don’t know what to do with your device.

Luckily, unlike Apple iCloud (very hard to bypass), Google’s FRP is not that hard to crack or bypass the screen. Google is continuously improving Android security, and with new updates, it is getting hard day by day to bypass it.

I had personally bypass Google account screen on many devices when it was in the early stages (Android Lollipop and Marshmallow).

Bypass Factory Reset Protection on Samsung devices

You’ve got an 80% chance to bypass FRP screen, if you’ve Android 5.0, 5.1.1 or Android 6.0, 6.1.1 installed on your device. With the latest Android versions, it is a bit difficult but not impossible.

I have written a detailed step-by-step guide to bypass Google factory reset protection on many Android devices.

Old devices with previous versions of Android such as the Galaxy Note 2, Note 3, S3, and S4 did not come with FRP lock, but since then most of them have got Android Lollipop updates. So these users are also experiencing issues to bypass the lock screen.

Samsung latest smartphones lineup including, Galaxy J1, J2, J3, J7, Galaxy A3, A5, A7, Galaxy C, Note 4, 5, S6 Edge, S7 Edge have built-in FRP feature.

Most of us forget to disable FRP before hard resetting our phones. When you hard reset your phone using recovery mode without turning it off from phone Settings, then it is more likely to get your phone FRP locked unless you enter the correct G account verification.

Most of the times, we sometimes forget email or password and are stuck at the Google verification screen.

This device was reset. To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device.
